Mahashivratri is not just a festival; it is a symbol of resilience, sacrifice, and the unwavering fight against injustice. It is a night dedicated to Lord Mahadev, the destroyer of evil and the harbinger of transformation. Among his many names, one of the most powerful is Neelkanth—the one with a blue throat, a title earned through an act of unparalleled selflessness during the cosmic churning, Samudra Manthan.

• The Legend of Samudra Manthan: A Lesson in Sacrifice

According to ancient scriptures, when the gods and demons churned the ocean in search of Amrit (the nectar of immortality), a deadly poison called Halahala emerged. This poison had the potential to destroy all of creation. The question arose—who would take this poison? Who would make the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good?

It was Lord Shankar who stepped forward. He drank the poison, holding it in his throat, turning it blue but refusing to let it spread within his body. He bore the unbearable pain, ensuring the survival of both gods and demons. This selfless act is what makes him Neelkanth—the one who swallows the world’s suffering yet remains steadfast in his duty.

Like Lord Shiva, we, the Sprouts Team, have also chosen to bear the poison of society—negativity, criticism, and mental torment—for the sake of truth. As investigative journalists, we are constantly targeted for exposing corruption and wrongdoing. But just as Neelkanth held the poison without letting it destroy him, we absorb the attacks without allowing them to weaken our mission.

Many troubled individuals and corrupt politicians have lodged cases against us. Himalay, Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, The Indian Express, Foodlink, Mumbai Bank, and other alleged corrupt entities have filed cases against The Sprouts Team and our Editor-in-Chief, Unmesh Gujarathi. But we refuse to be silenced. We stand firm, fighting against these forces just like Neelkanth fought against the poison that threatened the world.

We are the followers of Neelkanth. We willingly digest the poison of criticism, pressure, and threats for the sake of our readers. No amount of suppression can silence our commitment to fearless journalism. If needed, we will perform Tandav—a dance of destruction—against corruption, injustice, and wrongdoing in society.

• A Commitment on This Sacred Occasion

On this auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, we reaffirm our commitment to fearless journalism. Just as Lord Shiva protects the universe from destruction, we stand as protectors of truth and justice.

May Mahadev’s blessings guide us all in our battles against wrongdoing. Wishing all our leaders, readers, and well-wishers a powerful and transformative Mahashivratri!
