Within two weeks after the mask compulsion was relaxed there has been a massive surge in the number of Covid patients in Delhi. As such the use of face masks has been made compulsory in entire Delhi, four districts in Haryana and 5 districts in Uttar Pradesh once again.

In the backdrop of the use of face masks being made compulsory in Delhi, Haryana and UP, the BMC has directed private hospitals to carry out the RTPCR tests as a precautionary measure, after a special meeting held in this regard.

Since Corona is in control in Maharashtra, the patients coming to private hospitals are expected to neglect the RTPCR tests. As such the BMC held a meeting with private practitioners and directed them to compulsory carry out the RTPCR tests on patients with Corona symptoms or direct them to the BMC’s Covid test centres, Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani told the Sprouts.

It is to be noted here that there has been a spurt in the number of patients in Mumbai in the last fortnight. The BMC has resumed and upgraded operations in 266 centres.
