The bungalows located in the cool environs of Mahabaleshwar cost crores of rupees. Some of the old bungalows belong to Parsi and Catholic residents. These bungalows cost a fortune. That is the reason some of these bungalows have been illegally grabbed by local representatives with criminal backgrounds. This startling revelation was made by Nawab Mir Barkat Ali Khan Bahadur, the heir of Hyderabad’s Nizam while speaking to Sprouts.

A spacious “Woodland” bungalow belonging to the Nawab of Hyderabad is located at Mahabaleshwar and it is priced at over Rs 250 crore. After the country achieved Independence in 1947, the Britishers leased out this bungalow for 99 years to Nawab Mir Barkat Ali Khan Bahadur. However one Dilip Thakkar grabbed this bungalow based on forged documents, Nawab Mir Barkat Ali Khan Bahadur alleged.

Thakkar appointed local corporator Kumar Gorakhnath Shinde as a caretaker of this bungalow. Shinde’s wife is the President of the Mahabaleshwar Nagar Parishad. Shinde was extended twice earlier because of his criminal activities. He carries many serious offenses on his head. That is the reason such a history-sheeter was kept as a caretaker for this bungalow by Thakkar. Shinde has also grabbed other bungalows with his terror. Nawab Mir Barkat Ali Khan Bahadur, in a letter to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has demanded an in-depth inquiry into the misdeeds of Shinde.

Woodland Bungalow sealed, possession taken over under police protection

Shinde was illegally staying in Woodland Bungalow with his wife. However Satara Collector Ruchesh Jaivanshi broke Shinde’s back. Based on Jaivanshi’s orders, Tehsildar Sushma Chowdhary completed this daring mission under police protection. Shinde tried to retaliate during the takeover drive. But he was given an appropriate reply. His resistance was subsided and the bungalow was sealed.
