In a shocking revelation, the Sprouts News Special Investigation Team has uncovered alarming complaints by a group of flat owners from the Godrej Nest project in Kandivali East. The project, jointly developed by Godrej Properties Ltd. and Shivam Meha Structure, is under fire for allegedly forcing homebuyers to sign illegal declarations at the time of taking possession of their flats.
The flat owners, who have submitted a formal letter to the Chairman of RERA/Maharashtra Housing Board, have accused the developers of pressuring buyers into signing documents that were never part of the original sale agreement. These declarations, they claim, are being used as a tool to suppress their rights and forcefully close possession procedures under unfair terms.

“Despite RERA’s role to protect buyers, we are being mentally tortured and harassed,” the group stated, emphasizing that the declarations have no legal standing, but are being enforced in a coercive manner. “We invested our hard-earned money trusting the Godrej brand. Now, they can’t disown their responsibility by blaming their joint venture partner,” a buyer added.
The Sprouts News Special Investigation Team found that while the declaration is being collected by Shivam Meha Structure, Godrej Properties Ltd., as a co-developer, cannot escape accountability. The homebuyers believe that both entities must be held responsible for the stress caused and the violation of buyer rights.
The group has warned that if RERA fails to act swiftly, they may escalate the issue to the Prime Minister’s Office, urging for systemic reforms to plug such loopholes and ensure justice for common citizens.
