Janardan Kale, a forest guard, faced an unjust transfer allegedly rooted in corruption. His wife’s protest was suppressed, and his MAT court plea dismissed without justice. Allegations of bias, financial influence, and systemic delays have triggered demands for ED, CBI probes and calls to dissolve the MAT court.

Forest Guard’s Transfer Sparks Outrage Over Alleged Judicial Corruption

Janardan Kale, a forest guard stationed in Panvel, Maharashtra, was abruptly transferred to Shrivardhan in what is being described as an unjust and suspicious move. The transfer, allegedly misinterpreting a government order, ignored the critical family context — the ongoing education of Kale’s children and his wife Geeta Kale’s serious illness.

The Kale family believes this transfer was rooted in systemic corruption within the forest department. In protest, Mrs. Geeta Kale launched a dharna outside the Thane District Collectorate, demanding an investigation into the irregularities. Instead of support, her peaceful protest was met with police intervention and forceful dispersal — an act that legal experts claim may have violated her democratic rights.

Suppressed Reports, Stalled Justice: Accountability in Question

Following the protest, a formal complaint was filed with the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra. The Thane Police Utility Office, assigned to investigate, has reportedly completed its inquiry. However, the findings remain hidden from public view, raising serious concerns about administrative transparency.

Meanwhile, Kale’s petition challenging his transfer remains pending before the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT). Contrary to earlier reports of dismissal, the case is still active, with the next hearing scheduled for 7 July. However, legal delays have persisted for over a year without substantial movement, pointing to a troubling pattern of slow or selective judicial processes.

MAT Court Allegations: Fast-Track Justice for the Few?

Insiders allege that certain high-profile lawyers, such as Adv. Bandodkar, receive significantly faster case resolutions in MAT court compared to ordinary litigants. This inconsistency has triggered widespread concern about judicial impartiality.

Sources suggest that financial transactions may be influencing the pace and outcome of cases, creating an environment where justice appears to be accessible only to the well-connected. This raises critical questions: Is the MAT court operating on merit — or money?

Sprouts News has learned that multiple employee rights organizations are now calling for an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into potential misconduct by select judges and lawyers within the tribunal system.

Demand for Probe Grows: Calls to Reform or Dissolve MAT Court

Janardan Kale’s ongoing struggle for justice is now emblematic of a larger institutional crisis. Experts argue that the MAT court — intended to protect the rights of government employees — has instead become a bottleneck of delayed justice. If the current pattern of selective handling and inaction continues, many believe it constitutes a form of “administrative murder” of employee rights.

Legal activists interviewed by Sprouts News are demanding structural reforms or even dissolution of the MAT court, should it continue to fail its core mandate. They insist that public trust in the judiciary is at risk if corruption is left unchecked and delays remain the norm.

Crisis of Confidence in Justice System: Sprouts News Will Keep Watch

The case of Janardan Kale is not just about one transfer — it’s a litmus test for Maharashtra’s administrative and judicial integrity. As the July 3 MAT hearing approaches, stakeholders are watching closely.

If justice continues to be delayed or denied, it could set a dangerous precedent for countless other public servants facing similar struggles. Sprouts News will remain at the forefront of this issue, committed to uncovering the truth and demanding accountability — wherever it leads.
