Tragic Death Exposes Alleged Political Corruption Network
According to the police complaint, Saurabh Appa reportedly approached Vikrant Thakare with an offer to arrange a clerical job within a government ministry. Appa allegedly demanded Rs. 5 lakh for the illicit arrangement. Due to his modest financial background, Thakare could only manage to arrange Rs. 2.2 lakh by borrowing from relatives and friends, which he paid to the political functionary. After receiving the payment, Appa consistently avoided Thakare’s inquiries about the job, raising suspicions of a well-planned scam.

Investigation Uncovers Harassment and Mental Anguish Preceding Accident
The complaint filed by Thakare’s sister details the immense mental harassment her brother endured after realizing he had been defrauded. Vikrant made numerous trips to Appa’s office and residence in Boiser to demand his money back, but his efforts were futile. The financial loss and the betrayal reportedly caused him significant mental distress. This case highlights a pattern where vulnerable job seekers are targeted by individuals misusing political affiliations, an area of focus for the Sprouts News Investigation Team.

Family Pursues Justice After Victim’s Fatal Road Accident
The situation took a tragic turn on March 21, 2024, when Vikrant Thakare died in a road accident while returning home to Vikramgad from Boiser. While the accident itself is under separate investigation, the family directly links the mental trauma from the financial scam to the events leading to his death. Following this irreparable loss, Thakare’s married sister, Mayuri Late, gathered the courage to approach the Boiser police station and file a formal complaint against Saurabh Appa.
Police Case and Broader Implications for Accountability
Based on Mayuri Late’s testimony, the Boiser police have officially registered a case against Saurabh Appa under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for cheating and dishonesty. This incident raises serious questions about the accountability of political cadre and the exploitation of job seekers in Maharashtra. The police are now investigating the charges, which could have wider ramifications given the ongoing scrutiny of financial crimes and political corruption in the state.
This case underscores the critical need for public vigilance against fraudulent job schemes often promoted by individuals claiming political influence. The Sprouts News Investigation Team will continue to monitor the progress of this police case and report on further developments. Authorities urge citizens to report such incidents through official channels and avoid engaging with unauthorized agents promising government employment.
