Acharya Pawan Tripathi, Treasurer of Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Trust, highlights the Trust’s expansive humanitarian work—spending ₹22 crore annually on healthcare, education, and disaster relief. He emphasizes aid as divine service, not charity, and envisions Mumbai’s transformation under BJP leadership. Siddhivinayak stands as a model of faith-driven public service.
Mumbai’s iconic Shri Siddhivinayak Temple is not only a spiritual epicenter but also a powerhouse of public service through its temple trust. In a candid conversation with Sprouts News, Acharya Pawan Tripathi, Treasurer of the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust and Vice President of BJP Mumbai, spoke about the Trust’s commitment to social impact, its humanitarian model, and his views on inclusive politics in Maharashtra.
Shri Siddhivinayak Temple: From Faith to Service
Located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, Shri Siddhivinayak Temple is one of India’s most revered spiritual landmarks, drawing millions of devotees each year. Beyond its spiritual role, the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust has become a vital institution for social welfare and community upliftment.
“Whether it’s aiding families of martyred soldiers or supporting underprivileged patients, our goal is to serve society as an extension of our devotion,” says Acharya Pawan Tripathi. He notes that the assistance provided by the temple is not merely material—it is perceived by devotees as “a blessing from Lord Ganesha” that brings hope and emotional strength.
22 Crores Annually for Humanitarian Causes
Healthcare Services by Religious Trusts
The scale of Siddhivinayak Trust’s charitable initiatives is striking. “We assist around 10,000 patients every year with treatment support,” Tripathi confirms. The trust operates dialysis centers at Worli and Goregaon, charging patients only ₹250 per session. The remaining cost—up to ₹8 lakh per month—is fully absorbed by the trust.
“Our annual humanitarian budget crosses ₹22 crore,” Tripathi adds. “It includes healthcare, education, food security, and emergency response programs. Every rupee spent is a step toward a more compassionate and inclusive Mumbai.”
Empowering Students Through Education and Nutrition
Student Welfare Initiatives by Siddhivinayak Trust
Apart from healthcare, the temple trust emphasizes education. An on-site library supports 80 students, providing not only academic space but also one nutritious meal daily. For just ₹500 as a deposit and ₹600 annual fee, students gain access to essential learning resources and nourishment.
“This initiative builds the foundation for a healthier and better-educated generation,” says Tripathi, underlining the trust’s belief that education and service are acts of worship.
Disaster Relief and Infrastructure Support
Temple Trust Crisis Response Programs
During crises—from natural disasters to agrarian distress—the Siddhivinayak Trust has consistently played a frontline role. “We extended aid to families of farmers who died by suicide and actively supported the Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan, Maharashtra’s flagship water conservation initiative,” Tripathi states.
In response to public demand, the temple introduced a devotional dress code and ensured efficient crowd management with six distinct pathways for darshan. Soon, the Siddhivinayak Corridor Project will further streamline access for devotees.

• Political Perspective: Merit Over Language in BJP
Acharya Pawan Tripathi BJP Mumbai Leadership
When asked about the political representation of North Indians in Maharashtra, Acharya Tripathi emphasized that BJP values merit over language or ethnicity.
“Hindi-speaking leaders have found rightful space in Mumbai BJP. We currently have three MLAs and one Legislative Council member from the North Indian community,” he said. Citing projects like Atal Setu and the new Metro corridors, Tripathi praised CM Devendra Fadnavis for accelerating infrastructure development.
He expressed confidence that BJP will take charge of BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) this term. “Mumbai’s citizens want leadership that combines integrity with action. Under PM Modi’s guidance, and with CM Fadnavis’s proven track record, Mumbai’s transformation will gain momentum.”
Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Trust: A Model for Public-Religious Partnerships
Siddhivinayak Temple Public Service Model
As institutions across India seek to align faith with public responsibility, the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust stands out as a successful template for public-religious collaboration. Acharya Pawan Tripathi affirms that all service is done in the spirit of “seva with sanctity.”
“People don’t queue at the temple just for wishes; they come because they know this place stands for both spiritual fulfillment and societal support,” he adds. “We encourage policymakers and corporate leaders to see temples not as passive religious structures, but as active agents of change.”
