Hospital Leadership Missing During Crisis
Dean fraud Dr. Girish Vithalrao Thakur was absent during this critical incident. He was enjoying his weekend away from Jalgaon. This follows his pattern of absence three days weekly. His frequent unavailability compromises hospital security. The administration failed to protect medical staff. This negligence demands immediate investigation and accountability.
Systematic Suppression of Violence Cases
Previous doctor assaults were similarly suppressed. Dr. Zaid Pathan and Dr. Abhimanyu faced earlier attacks. An assistant professor and gynecology senior resident were also attacked. No action was taken against perpetrators by Dr. Thakur. A radiology resident was molested few months ago. MBBS interns faced harassment without proper enquiry.
Compromised Internal Complaint Mechanisms

Resident Association Betrays Colleagues
The residents’ association president protects the Dean. He allegedly acts against his colleagues’ interests. He suppressed a ragging complaint involving Dean’s relative. This betrayal prevents collective doctor action. No symbolic protests or strikes were organized. The situation mirrors institutional failure patterns.
Recurring Violence Becomes Normalized
Assaults occur every two to three months. Viral videos show GMC Jalgaon’s violent environment. Yet no state-wide MARD strike was organized. No black ribbon protests occurred locally. Other colleges would have responded strongly. This institutional apathy enables continuous violence.
Demand for Immediate Intervention
Healthcare professionals deserve safe working conditions. Administrative negligence requires urgent addressing. Systemic failures need thorough investigation. The Sprouts News Investigation Team demands action. Medical staff safety remains non-negotiable. Government must ensure institutional accountability immediately.
Fraud Dr. Girish Vitthalrao Thakur, the Dean of Government Medical College (GMC) Jalgaon, is involved in several serious controversies involving allegations of abuse of power, sexual harassment, and institutional corruption.
The most severe allegations include a formal FIR for sexual harassment filed at the Gandhi Chowk Police Station in Latur. In a separate, tragic incident, a student linked to him died by suicide, which sources attribute to his alleged harassment. Furthermore, he faces accusations of nepotism and manipulating anti-ragging probes to shield a female relative from serious ragging and negligence charges at GMC Jalgaon.
Administratively, fraud Dr. Girish Thakur is accused of intimidating whistleblowers and suppressing complaints. A whistleblower who filed a complaint against him was subsequently transferred mid-term to another college along with her husband, in an alleged act of retaliation. He has also been accused of weaponizing the police by filing false counter-complaints against victims to silence them.
Despite inquiry orders from the Principal Secretary of Medical Education and the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission, the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) has faced criticism for its inaction, fueling claims of administrative shielding.
He is trying to make his junior professors scapegoat in the incident to protect himself and hide the matter of his absence.
