Ram Temple Silver Donation Row: VSSS Seeks Accountability for 200 kg Silver Donated to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust
The Vishva Sindhi Seva Sangam (VSSS) has sought accountability from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust regarding 200 kilograms of silver donated in 2021, requesting a donation receipt and clarification on how the contribution has been utilised.
The Ram Temple silver donation issue has gained renewed attention after the Vishva Sindhi Seva Sangam (VSSS) sought clarification from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust regarding 200 kilograms of silver donated by the global Sindhi community in 2021.
The development comes two days after VSSS issued a public notice stating that, despite the passage of nearly five years, the organisation had not received an official receipt acknowledging the donation allegedly made to the Trust.
According to Raju Manwani, International Chairman of VSSS, the organisation has requested not only a formal receipt but also information regarding the present status of the donated silver and whether it has been utilised for the temple.
Speaking about the representation, Manwani said the organisation had also sought details regarding the intended future use of the silver if it had not yet been incorporated into the temple’s construction or related religious purposes.
The donation reportedly consisted of 200 kilograms of silver, contributed by nearly 150 donors from different countries. According to VSSS, the contribution was valued at approximately ₹1.5 crore at the time of donation in January 2021.
VSSS Raises Transparency Concerns Over Silver Donation
Raju Manwani stated that members of the Sindhi community had become increasingly concerned because repeated requests for documentary confirmation of the donation allegedly did not result in the issuance of an official receipt from the Trust.
According to Manwani, when the organisation initially requested a receipt, Trust representatives reportedly informed them that an acknowledgement would be issued after receipt of an expert testing report relating to the donated silver.
He stated that VSSS continued making enquiries for some time before eventually discontinuing follow-up efforts. However, recent media reports relating to alleged financial irregularities prompted the organisation to revive the matter.
Manwani said the organisation has now formally written to the Trust seeking clarification and accountability regarding the donation. He added that many contributors expect transparency concerning charitable contributions made for the Ram Temple project.
The VSSS International Chairman further stated that uncertainty regarding the status of the donation had created concern among contributors and sections of the Sindhi community, particularly because charitable donations depend significantly upon public confidence and institutional transparency.

Champat Rai Meeting and Demand for Official Clarification
According to Manwani, following the community’s decision to donate silver, he personally approached Champat Rai, then General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, to coordinate the contribution process.
He stated that the silver donation was formally handed over to the Trust during a function attended by more than 100 members of the Sindhi community and other invitees in January 2021.
Referring to recent developments, Manwani noted that Champat Rai had stepped down amid the ongoing donation-related controversy. Sprouts News has not independently verified the circumstances surrounding that development.
VSSS has stated that it intends to await completion of the ongoing Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry before drawing conclusions. According to Manwani, the organisation hopes that the investigation will establish relevant facts and ensure accountability wherever legally warranted.
Expressing confidence in constitutional institutions, Manwani said VSSS has full faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, stating that they would ensure justice in accordance with law.
As of publication, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had not publicly responded to the specific issues raised by VSSS regarding the donation receipt and utilisation of the silver. Sprouts News will publish the Trust’s response if and when it is received.
