Goa BJP Scam Allegations: K C Venugopal Targets Pramod Sawant Government Ahead of Elections
AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal has levelled a series of allegations against the BJP government in Goa, accusing it of corruption, land-related irregularities and governance failures while outlining the Congress party’s campaign ahead of the Assembly elections.
Goa BJP scam allegations dominated the political discourse on Saturday after AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal accused the Pramod Sawant-led BJP government of corruption, land-related irregularities and administrative failures during a media interaction in Goa.
Addressing reporters, K C Venugopal alleged that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was associated with what he described as the “biggest scam” in Goa. He further claimed that land belonging to Goans was allegedly being acquired in the name of development by bypassing local self-government institutions through special regulatory provisions.
The senior Congress leader asserted that public sentiment in Goa had turned against the BJP government. According to K C Venugopal, alleged corruption at the highest levels had adversely affected governance and public confidence in the administration.
Citing crime data for the previous four years, K C Venugopal claimed that Goa recorded 127 murders, 383 rape cases, 2,113 incidents of theft, burglary and robbery, 354 kidnapping cases, and 1,127 assault cases during the period.

K C Venugopal also alleged that Goa currently had the country’s highest unemployment rate. He stated that the Indian National Congress intended to highlight these issues extensively during the forthcoming election campaign across the state.
Expressing confidence in the party’s state leadership, K C Venugopal described Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar as one of the Congress party’s most honest office-bearers. He declined to comment further on possible electoral alliances, describing them as internal organisational matters.
Turning to national issues, K C Venugopal alleged that leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) were responsible for the reported theft allegations concerning the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
He questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the matter and claimed he had written to the Prime Minister seeking a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the reported incident involving the temple.

Venugopal Criticises Education and Defection Politics
Referring to education-related issues, K C Venugopal raised concerns over reported examination paper leaks and criticised Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, questioning his continuation in the ministry despite recurring controversies.
On the issue of political defections, K C Venugopal alleged that Goa had become the epicentre of defection politics. He accused the BJP of using central investigative agencies to pressure elected representatives into changing political allegiance.
According to K C Venugopal, agencies including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Election Commission of India, the Income Tax Department, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) were allegedly being misused for political purposes. These allegations were made during his interaction with the media.
The BJP had not publicly responded to the specific allegations made by K C Venugopal at the time of publication. The claims represent the Congress leader’s political assertions and have not been independently verified by Sprouts News.
With Goa expected to witness heightened political activity ahead of future elections, issues relating to governance, unemployment, crime, land administration and political defections are likely to remain central to the campaign narratives of both the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.
