The Anti-Extortion Cell of Thane Police raided a hotel in Ulhasnagar on November 6, 2024, and rescued 14 women who were allegedly forced into prostitution. The police arrested the hotel manager and two waiters, while 23 customers were rounded up from the premises.

According to exclusive information received by Sprouts News, the hotel is owned by Kailash Mahesh Sukhramani, son of Mahesh Sukhramani, a BJP leader, former corporator, and Maharashtra state working president of the Sindhi Sahayata Academy. Despite his name being mentioned in the FIR, Kailash has not been booked as an accused, allegedly due to his father’s political influence.

• Prostitution Racket Under the Cover of Luxury Lodging

The raid revealed that the hotel was being used for an illicit prostitution business, where customers were paying money in exchange for sexual services. Police seized ₹2.75 lakh in cash and multiple packets of condoms from the location.

Sources have informed Sprouts News that certain media reports indicate some of the rescued women might be Bangladeshi nationals. This raises further concerns about illegal human trafficking and the need for a thorough police investigation.

• Political Influence Preventing Action Against the Hotel Owner

Despite clear evidence and the hotel being registered under Kailash Sukhramani’s name, the police have not yet booked him as an accused. Many are questioning whether political pressure from his father, Mahesh Sukhramani, is shielding him from legal action.

This incident once again highlights the unchecked prostitution racket operating in Ulhasnagar under the guise of lodging and boarding facilities. Many such establishments are reportedly owned by powerful politicians, who lease them to private operators while ensuring that police action remains limited.

. Police Must Reinvestigate the Matter

Despite a clear mention of Kailash Mahesh Sukhramani’s name in the FIR, the police have not officially declared him an accused, raising questions about political influence in the case.

Sprouts News demands that the police reinvestigate the entire matter to uncover the full extent of this prostitution racket. A detailed verification of the Aadhaar cards of the rescued women must be conducted. If properly checked, it is highly likely that some of them may be Bangladeshi prostitutes involved in illegal human trafficking. Law enforcement must ensure that all culprits, regardless of their political connections, are held accountable and that such illicit activities are eradicated from the region.

• Previous Incidents of Illegal Activities in Ulhasnagar

This is not the first time Ulhasnagar has been in the news for illegal activities related to prostitution and human trafficking.

In a past case, a Bangladeshi adult actress, Riya Barde (Arohi Barde), was arrested for staying in India using a fake Indian passport. She was caught by the Hill Line Police in Ulhasnagar, following a tip-off that a Bangladeshi family was living in Ambernath using forged documents. Investigations revealed that an individual from Amravati had helped forge their identity papers.

Similarly, in another case, a 23-year-old woman named Nagma Noor Maksood Ali (alias Sanam Khan) was caught for illegally traveling to Pakistan using a forged Indian passport and visa.

These repeated incidents highlight a deep-rooted network of illegal human trafficking and forged documentation in and around Ulhasnagar and Thane, demanding strict law enforcement actions.
