A woman employee has accused Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd (MOFSL) of framing her through a fake internal committee, violating POSH laws, and filing false sexual misconduct complaints against her. Despite no FIR or charges ever being filed against her, MOFSL continues to defame her sexually. The Mumbai Police issued her a clean chit. The Sprouts SIT demands a judicial probe.
Institutional Manipulation & POSH Violations by MOFSL
MOFSL is alleged to have framed the woman through a sham internal committee, circumventing the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act). The woman later filed an FIR under Section 509 and a subsequent chargesheet for false sexual shaming and sexual defamation. Despite serious allegations by MOFSL, police and courts have not filed any criminal charges against her. The Bombay High Court has not yet quashed the FIR against MOFSL employees, and the Sprouts News Investigation Team (SIT) continues to demand an independent judicial inquiry due to major process violations.
Police Intervention & High-Level Official Involvement
The woman received a call from the office of Maharashtra DGP Rajnish Seth. She was also directed by Additional CP Anil Kumbhaare to meet Byculla Division ACP Priya Dhakane, with whom she eventually met. Her statements were also registered by NM Joshi Marg IOs Sachin Kamble and Preeti Parkale. Notably, the 509 chargesheet names MOFSL CHRO/Executive Director/Board Member Sudhir Dhar among the accused. Senior police officers, including CP Sanjay Pandey’s office, helped ensure her complaint was officially documented.
Clean Chit Issued Amidst Escalating Tensions
Despite MOFSL’s allegations, the woman has no criminal record—no arrests, detentions, chargesheets, bonds, convictions, FIRs, bails, look-out notices or warrants. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch issued her a written, stamped clean chit, signed by Dadar ACP Sandeep Bhagdikar. This has also been submitted in court, strengthening the woman’s position and exposing what the Sprouts SIT calls “institutional sexual defamation and sexual shaming and emotional harassment.”
Alleged Policy Abuse & Discriminatory Internal Regulations
After 36 years, MOFSL suddenly introduced a new email access outside office hours restricting policy — publicly framed as an employee welfare move, but introduced only after the woman submitted evidence to the police and courts. She was also reportedly threatened with termination over false rumours about her eating non-vegetarian food. Something that she never even did. These prohibitions, which were never outlined in her employment contract or appointment letter, are described by the Sprouts SIT as illegal, discriminatory, and unconstitutional. The team categorically states that MOFSL, a publicly listed company, used unlawful policies internally to harass the woman & that has been going on for three years now.
Emergency Resignation Demands & Procedural Irregularities
The woman was first pressured to resign at the office and then again at the police station, after two-line, copy-pasted email complaints that were created on-the-spot. Within two days of her refusal to resign at the office, she was suspended. The FIR names eight men, but six out of those men … Their police statements are missing from the chargesheet. The Sprouts SIT flags this as a serious breach in legal procedure and evidence handling.

Corporate Influence & Governance Breakdown
MOFSL is accused of using its financial, political, and media influence to obstruct police investigations. The internal dismissal lacked transparency and violated whistleblower protection norms. CHRO/Executive Director/Board Member Sudhir Dhar, booked in the 509 chargesheet, controlled the fake committee.
MD/CEO/Wholetime Director Ajay Menon — Who is chargesheeted by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in a different case — Now heads MOFSL’s newly restructured internal committee. HR VP Jarna Mehta, named by the woman as a co-conspirator in both court and police submissions, is also listed as a witness in the chargesheet — A contradiction highlighted by legal experts and the Sprouts SIT.
Shockingly, MOFSL threatened disciplinary action for eating non-veg food — Nowhere stated in official contracts — Amounting to coercion and unconstitutional discrimination. The Sprouts SIT warns that such policies raise critical concerns about corporate governance in publicly traded companies.
Call for Transparency & Legal Accountability
As the Bombay High Court scrutinizes the FIR & the chargesheet and MOFSL’s request for dismissal continues to be not yet granted, public pressure mounts. The Sprouts News Investigation Team (SIT) calls for full disclosure of internal committee minutes, forensic audits, and all police statements. Stakeholders and regulatory bodies like SEBI and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs must take immediate notice. This case represents not just an HR failure, but a systemic corporate governance crisis.
