YouTube’s policies and their inconsistent enforcement have once again come under scrutiny, this time in connection with popular influencer Ranveer Allahbadia and his show India’s Got Latent.

The controversy erupted over obscene remarks made during the show, triggering widespread public outrage. Despite issuing an apology, Ranveer has faced severe criticism for promoting content that violates social and ethical standards.

• YouTube’s Questionable Approval

The show in question contains excessive abusive language and controversial statements, raising concerns about YouTube’s content moderation policies. According to YouTube’s own community guidelines, such content should not be allowed on the platform.

However, the video was not only uploaded but also remained available without any action from YouTube, despite violating its policies.

What’s even more shocking is that the video amassed millions of views after being published, significantly amplifying its reach and influence. This raises a critical question: Is YouTube selectively enforcing its policies, or does it have different standards for influential content creators?

• Threat to Indian Culture: Need for Government Intervention

This incident highlights the unchecked freedom YouTube enjoys in India. The platform appears to operate without sufficient regulatory oversight, posing a serious threat to Indian cultural values.

If YouTube continues to ignore its own policies and promote harmful content, it could lead to a deterioration of societal norms.

Sprouts News strongly believes that the Central Government must intervene and establish strict regulations for online platforms like YouTube. If left unchecked, these digital giants will continue to exploit their influence without accountability.

• Legal Action & Appeal to PM Modi

In response to this alarming issue, Sprouts News has decided to take legal action. We will file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against YouTube in the Bombay High Court, urging the court to regulate YouTube’s content approval process.

Additionally, Sprouts News Editor-in-Chief Unmesh Gujarathi will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding strict action against YouTube, Ranveer Allahbadia, and his associate Sameer Saiyna.

We also call upon the government to formulate a comprehensive policy to regulate YouTube and other digital platforms, ensuring they do not undermine Indian cultural and ethical values.
