In a significant development within Mumbai’s real estate sector, Macrotech Developers, led by Abhishek Lodha, has initiated legal proceedings against the House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), founded by his younger brother, Abhinandan Lodha. The crux of the dispute centers on the alleged unauthorized use of the ‘Lodha’ trademark by HoABL.

In response, Macrotech has approached the Bombay High Court, seeking an injunction to prevent HoABL from using the ‘Lodha’ trademark. The company emphasizes that the ‘Lodha’ brand has been meticulously built over four decades, involving substantial investments in advertising and endorsements. They argue that unauthorized use by HoABL not only infringes upon their intellectual property rights but also creates confusion among consumers.

Legal Proceedings and Court’s Stance

The case was recently presented before the Bombay High Court. Due to the substantial damages claimed—exceeding Rs. 5,000 crore—the matter has been assigned to a bench equipped to handle high-value commercial disputes. The court has scheduled further hearings to deliberate on the interim relief sought by Macrotech Developers.
