Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Releases Dr Tushar Sawadawkar’s 11th Book ‘Nakshatradeepika’ in Mumbai
Standfirst: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled Dr Tushar Sawadawkar’s eleventh book, Nakshatradeepika, at Sahyadri Guest House, highlighting the author’s continuing work on astrology and traditional knowledge.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis released Nakshatradeepika, the eleventh book authored by Dr Tushar Indira Yashwant Sawadawkar, during a ceremony at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai on Thursday.
The book launch, held on October 29 at the state guest house in Malabar Hill, coincided with Dr Sawadawkar’s birthday, adding personal significance to the occasion.
The publication focuses on nakshatras, or lunar constellations, an important component of traditional Indian astrology, reflecting the author’s longstanding interest in celestial classifications and their interpretations.
Dr Sawadawkar has studied several traditional and alternative disciplines, including Krishnamurti astrology, Vedic Vastu Shastra, sound waves, vibration studies, aura analysis, numerology and radionic healing practices.
According to information shared about the publication, Nakshatradeepika represents an attempt to bring together his observations, research and understanding of nakshatras for Marathi-speaking readers.
The author said Marathi literature contains comparatively limited writing specifically devoted to nakshatras, although he acknowledged that the existing publications include substantial and scholarly contributions.
He explained that his latest book seeks to present material developed through his own studies, making the subject accessible to readers interested in traditional astrological systems.
Nakshatradeepika Explores Traditional Astrology and Nakshatra Studies
The publication draws attention to nakshatras, which form part of the traditional Indian lunar calendar and are used in various systems of astrological interpretation.
In Indian astrology, the zodiac is traditionally divided into 27 nakshatras, each associated with a particular segment of the Moon’s apparent path across the sky.
These classifications have historical importance in traditional calendars, religious observances and astrology, although astrological predictions themselves are not supported by established scientific evidence or methods.
Dr Sawadawkar expressed the view that the disciplines he studies are exceptionally extensive, requiring sustained learning, reflection and research to develop a deeper understanding.
He observed that even an entire lifetime may prove insufficient to explore the full breadth of these subjects, underscoring his personal commitment to continued study.
Before Nakshatradeepika, Dr Sawadawkar had published ten books addressing different subjects, including astrology, Vastu Shastra and other related areas of traditional and alternative knowledge.
His eleventh publication therefore marks another addition to his writing career, extending his work into a more focused examination of nakshatras and associated interpretations.

Devendra Fadnavis and Neeta Kelkar Attend Mumbai Book Launch
The release ceremony was attended by Neeta Kelkar, identified in the event information as a Mahavitaran director and senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis formally unveiled the book, while the presence of Kelkar formed part of the occasion, recognising Dr Sawadawkar’s latest literary contribution.
Dr Sawadawkar thanked Fadnavis and Kelkar for their cooperation and attendance, acknowledging their support in organising and conducting the publication ceremony at Sahyadri Guest House.
The event also brought attention to Marathi-language publishing on specialised subjects, particularly publications addressing traditional knowledge systems and their historical place in Indian cultural practices.
Such books offer readers opportunities to explore the terminology, historical context and interpretations associated with these traditions, while distinguishing traditional beliefs from scientifically established findings.
For Dr Sawadawkar, the publication represents a continuation of his work as an author, with Nakshatradeepika now presented to readers interested in nakshatras and related studies.
