Poona Diocesan Educational Society (PDES) in the 4th POCSO scandal!

In a shocking 4th successive POCSO incident whose documentary details are with the Sprouts Special Investigation Team (SIT), a Poona Diocesan Educational Society (PDES) run school and it’s Principal have been held prima facie guilty by the State Education Department in its preliminary inquiry by a 3-members inquiry team.

The copy of the Inquiry report with the Sprouts Special Investigation Team has comprehensively nailed the principal, Fr. Jovian Dmello, 2 staff members, and 2 minor students prima facie guilty in their respective roles in a serious sexual harassment complaint.

The Education Officer, Secondary (Dr. Bhausaheb Karekar) of the Pune Zilla Parishad had ordered a probe into a complaint by the girl’s father on 11th December 24 concerning an alleged sexual harassment incident of his 12-year-old daughter on 22nd November 24 by two classmates of the victim threatening her with rape and murder through another senior IX std student by offering a’supari’ of Rs.100!

The Inquiry committee, comprising three education officials from Daund, held a detailed preliminary inquiry and found Principal Dmelo and his 2 staff members prima facie guilty of serious and deliberate dereliction of duty. The committee also states that Principal Dmelo should have filed a police complaint and informed the two internal committees of the school (Sakhi Savitri and Students Security), which he deliberately avoided.

The Department’s Inquiry committee members have recommended strict action against the three delinquent employees of the PDES-managed school, including Principal Fr. Jovian Dmello.

The Inquiry report in the present case was tagged by the Education Officer, Secondary, Dr. Bhausaheb Karekar, and sent to the PDES Chairman, John Rodrigues, Bishop of Pune (who has recently been appointed Archbishop designate of Mumbai by Pope Francis being the blue-eyed boy of outgoing Mumbai Archbishop, Cardinal Oswald Gracias), and PDES Secretary Simon D’Souza, directing that the management take action concerning the serious nature of allegations found prima facie true by the 3-member Inquiry Committee.

However, the PDES Chairman, Bishop John Rodrigues, nor its trustees have reported to the Education Department about any action taken as per information from the Sprouts Special Investigation Team (SIT).

In the meantime, the affected parent has dashed off a second consecutive e-mail on 3rd January 25 (the first was on 15th Dec 24) to the Chairman, John Rodrigues, and trustees, seeking action within 24 hours or face the ominous possibility of being named as co-accused in the complaint that he threatens is being lodged with the Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural Police, on Monday, 6th January 25.

Mumbai Archbishop designate John Rodrigues in deep (POCSO) trouble?

Now it will be interesting to see how Pope Francis deals with the new Archbishop designate John Rodrigues in view of his dubious role in the POCSO case that is likely to be filed against him soon.

The father of the victim minor girl is learned by Sprouts SIT to be writing letters to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other high-ranking officials urging for stringent and unbiased action against the powerful and influential accused Bishop John Rodrigues and Principal Jovian Dmello.
