The Toxic trailer starring Yash, which is the most definitive glimpse yet at Geetu Mohandas’ highly anticipated action drama, was launched in Bangalore on August 8, 2026. Produced by K Venkat Narayana under the banner of KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations by Yash, the film is titled Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups.
The film is scheduled to release worldwide on August 26, 2026, more than two-and-a-half years after the project was first announced. Yash co-stars with Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Kiara Advani in the Kannada-English production.
The 4-minute-38-second trailer reveals a visually lush world of darkness where crime, romance, violence and psychological conflict collide over the course of the narrative. It starts with a child pleading with Yash’s injured character, before the sequence takes a sinister turn as he screams and points a gun at the child.
Then Kiara Advani’s character is introduced, who is in the employ of a circus company and gets connected to Yash’s character through an attraction. Yash’s character is also portrayed as having an affair with many women and simultaneously fighting against powerful gangsters, which leads to bloody battles all over the city.
Yash’s twin sets up a violent confrontation
One of the big reveals in the trailer is that Yash has a twin, who looks different from the other character with his shorter hair and beard. The twin is introduced as a ruthless character who kills people with apparent intensity. These two characters are set up to conflict with each other. And so their paths diverge and ultimately are destined to collide in a snow-covered environment. Thus, the emotional conflict of the film is not confined to its crime plot.
The trailer blends violent action with surreal and atmospheric imagery, with a burning cartwheel, dreamlike circus sequences, and expansive snowy landscapes. There are several sequences where Yash’s character is shown shooting and attacking gangsters, which only goes to reinforce the film’s positioning as a violent action drama with melodramatic and romantic elements.

Rajeev Ravi is the Cinematographer, Ravi Basrur is the Music Composer, and Ujjwal Kulkarni, who is known for KGF: Chapter 2, is the Editor. Action choreography is by JJ Perry ( John Wick, Fast & Furious), Anbariv, and Kecha Khamphakdee. The film is directed creatively by Geetu Mohandas and stars its lead actor, Yash, who is also the head of Monster Mind Creations.
Multiple postponements preceded the August 2026 release
Toxic has had a few release-date changes since the original plan, the first of which moved the film out of March 19, 2026. The makers said they advanced the March release due to "escalating military tensions and conflict in West Asia", the information supplied said.
The film has been subsequently postponed from June 4, 2026 to August 26, 2026, with the makers attributing it to the process of “aligning global distributors”.
Yash has also been championing the film internationally with an appearance at CinemaCon and Comic-Con 2026, where he spoke about the film’s unique approach. The actor said he called Toxic a project that has a deep psychology and interesting things about human life, but presented unusually with a dark character.
Yash’s next major release is ‘Ramayana’
Toxic is also Yash’s return to the silver screen after four years, after the success of KGF: Chapter 2, released in 2022. Yash will be next seen in Ramayana, which is being helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra and starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, in 2026.
The epic retelling will feature Yash as Ravana, Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita, with the film slated for release in November 2026. With Toxic set for August 26, eyes will turn to how it's received in theaters, especially its blend of psychological drama, romance, crime and big-scale action.
