Mumbai Investment Scam: Son of Retired Police Inspector Arrested in Alleged Rs 10 Lakh Container Trading Fraud
A businessman allegedly lost Rs 10 lakh after being persuaded to invest in a purported container trading business promising high returns. Dindoshi Police have arrested one accused, while two others remain absconding.
Mumbai investment scam investigators have arrested Sanjay Krishna Jadhav, the son of a retired Mumbai Police senior police inspector, in connection with an alleged Rs 10 lakh investment fraud involving a purported container trading business. Two co-accused remain absconding as Dindoshi Police continue their investigation into the financial transactions.
According to police, Sanjay Krishna Jadhav had allegedly been evading arrest after a cheating case was registered against him. He was apprehended recently and has since been remanded to police custody while investigators examine the alleged investment scheme and the movement of funds.
The case was registered following a complaint by Yuvraj Jagannath Gaikwad, a resident of Malad who operates a Xerox shop in Vile Parle. Investigators are also searching for co-accused Rahul Shailu Yamla and Rajkumar Ayyar, who are yet to be arrested.
Mumbai Investment Scam Allegedly Revolved Around Container Trading Business
According to the complaint, Yuvraj Jagannath Gaikwad had known Rahul Shailu Yamla for nearly ten years. Police said Yamla, who allegedly worked as a personal loan facilitator and property agent, introduced Gaikwad to Sanjay Krishna Jadhav and Rajkumar Ayyar during April 2026.
Investigators alleged that the three accused represented themselves as traders purchasing cargo containers from the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) before selling them in the Masjid Bunder market for significant profits. The alleged proposal promised unusually high and quick financial returns.
Police said the trio allegedly persuaded the complainant to invest Rs 10 lakh by assuring him that he would receive an additional Rs 4 lakh profit within just 15 days. Investigators are examining the claims made during these meetings as part of the ongoing probe.
According to the complaint, Yuvraj Jagannath Gaikwad, relying on his long-standing acquaintance with Rahul Shailu Yamla, transferred Rs 10 lakh through RTGS into the bank account of Sanjay Krishna Jadhav.
Police alleged that neither the promised profit nor the original investment was returned after the transfer. The complainant claimed that repeated requests for repayment were allegedly met with delays and various explanations instead of reimbursement.

Threat Allegations Added to Cheating Complaint
According to the First Information Report, the dispute escalated after Yuvraj Jagannath Gaikwad demanded the return of his money. The complaint alleges that Sanjay Krishna Jadhav refused repayment and issued threats during subsequent conversations.
Police stated that the complainant alleged Sanjay Krishna Jadhav invoked his father’s former position as a senior police inspector and allegedly threatened to “break his arms and legs.” These allegations form part of the police investigation and remain subject to judicial scrutiny.
Following the registration of the cheating case, investigators alleged that Sanjay Krishna Jadhav, Rahul Shailu Yamla, and Rajkumar Ayyar went into hiding. Police subsequently launched efforts to trace and apprehend all three accused.
Police Continue Search for Remaining Accused
An investigating officer stated that Sanjay Krishna Jadhav was arrested two days before the report and is presently being questioned. During interrogation, police alleged he admitted to participating in the alleged fraud along with the two co-accused.
Police further stated that Krishna Jadhav, father of Sanjay Krishna Jadhav, retired from the Mumbai Police as a senior police inspector in 1988. Investigators clarified that the present case concerns the son and that financial transactions remain under examination.
Officials said efforts are continuing to locate Rahul Shailu Yamla and Rajkumar Ayyar while investigators analyse banking records, digital evidence and money trails to determine the complete scope of the alleged investment fraud.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations against the accused have yet to be tested before a court. Sprouts News will continue monitoring developments, including further arrests, recovery proceedings and any official statements issued by Dindoshi Police or the investigating authorities.
