The Ram Temple Donation case has intensified the political debate after the Congress questioned the response of the RSS and sought a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into alleged donation irregularities involving the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Uttar Pradesh Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Misra alleged that accountability had not been fixed despite the reported controversy and questioned the absence of action against senior Trust functionaries. The allegations reflect the Congress party’s position and remain disputed by the Trust, the BJP, and the RSS.
Ram Temple Donation Case: Congress Questions RSS, Seeks Probe Into Alleged Donation Irregularities in Ayodhya
The Congress has intensified its attack over the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, questioning the silence of central agencies, the role of the RSS, and demanding a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the controversy.
The Ram Temple donation case has triggered fresh political confrontation after the Indian National Congress questioned the response of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the alleged inaction of central investigative agencies over reported irregularities involving donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Addressing a press conference on July 4, 2026, Uttar Pradesh Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Misra alleged that the response issued by RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale was inadequate and described it as “crocodile tears.” She argued that merely issuing a statement could not absolve the RSS of responsibility.
The Congress leader also questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the RSS were attempting to distance themselves from the controversy through what she described as a “scripted statement.”
According to Aradhana Misra, the Congress has consistently maintained that it reveres Lord Ram, while alleging that the BJP has politically capitalised on the deity’s name. These remarks reflect the Congress party’s position and have been disputed by the BJP in broader political discourse.
Congress Questions Role of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust
During the press conference, Aradhana Misra questioned the functioning of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, alleging that senior office-bearers associated with the Trust also have links with the RSS.
She specifically named Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, and Gopal Rao, asking whether they held key positions within the Trust and whether accountability had been fixed for the alleged donation-related irregularities.
According to Aradhana Misra, if the RSS was genuinely concerned about the allegations, it should explain why no visible action had been initiated against senior functionaries overseeing the Trust’s administration.
She further alleged that while lower-level employees had reportedly been arrested in connection with the case, no action had been initiated against senior Trust officials responsible for supervising the temple’s financial administration.
The Congress leader also questioned why no First Information Report (FIR) had allegedly been registered against senior office-bearers despite the reported controversy surrounding temple donations.
The Congress party has made these allegations. The Trust, the BJP, and the RSS have publicly disputed allegations relating to wrongdoing, and no court has reached any conclusion regarding the claims.

Questions Raised Over ED, CBI and Income Tax Department
Targeting the Union government, Aradhana Misra questioned why agencies including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax Department had not initiated action despite what she described as large-scale financial irregularities.
She alleged that there was no proper accounting of donations received from devotees across India, including approximately 1,250 Ram Shilas and jewellery collectively valued at several crores of rupees.
The Congress leader also claimed that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust remains outside the ambit of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, arguing that this limits public scrutiny of financial transactions.
Referring to the Supreme Court’s November 9, 2019 Ayodhya judgment, Aradhana Misra argued that the apex court had entrusted the Union Government with facilitating the construction of the temple and the formation of the Trust.
According to her, both the Central Government and the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh therefore bear responsibility for ensuring transparency and accountability in the temple’s administration.
Congress Renews Demand for Supreme Court-Monitored Investigation
The Congress reiterated its demand for an investigation supervised by a sitting or retired Supreme Court judge into the alleged donation irregularities linked to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The party alleged that a comprehensive probe was necessary to establish accountability, examine financial records and determine whether any wrongdoing had occurred in the management of donations received from devotees.
The allegations made by Aradhana Misra and the Congress party remain political assertions. At the time of publication, no court has established criminal liability against the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, Gopal Rao, the RSS, or the BJP regarding the matters raised.
The controversy has added another political dimension to the national debate over transparency, religious institutions and public accountability. Any future legal or investigative developments are expected to remain closely watched by political parties and the public.
Sprouts News will continue monitoring official responses from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the RSS, the BJP, investigating agencies and the courts as further developments emerge.
