Devotees and local residents alike have been severely affected, with reports stating that it took up to six hours to cover a mere 20 km distance. The congestion intensified over the Holi weekend, leaving thousands of pilgrims stranded in long queues of vehicles.
Commuters took to social media to share images and videos of the massive gridlock, criticizing the administration and the Public Works Department (PWD) for their negligence. The situation has become a recurring issue, especially on weekends and during festival seasons, as Kainchi Dham continues to attract an increasing number of visitors.

The increasing footfall at Neem Karoli Baba’s Kainchi Dham has posed significant challenges for infrastructure and traffic management. The lack of designated parking spaces, inadequate shuttle services, and narrow roads have exacerbated the problem. Authorities must prioritize sustainable solutions such as improved public transport, additional parking facilities, and better traffic regulation to accommodate the growing number of visitors.
Government’s Alleged Inaction
Despite Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announcing large-scale projects such as airports and other infrastructure developments, the failure to address the severe traffic problem has sparked outrage. Devotees are expressing their disappointment over the state government’s inability to implement practical solutions to ease congestion in the region.
Rajesh Vohra, a devotee from Mumbai, spoke to Sprouts News, stating that his family was stuck in traffic for over three hours in Bhowali. “The children were exhausted, and the journey turned into an ordeal,” he lamented. Similarly, local resident Veeru Mehra from Mehragaon pointed out that traffic congestion has become a regular issue every Saturday and Sunday, making daily life difficult for the locals as well. He criticized the administration for failing to provide adequate parking facilities and shuttle services for visitors.
Need for Urgent Measures

The absence of proper traffic management, parking lots, and alternative transport facilities has exacerbated the problem. Traders and residents of Bhowali are urging authorities to take immediate action to resolve the crisis.
