Mumbai Ramlila Events: Mangal Prabhat Lodha Meets BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide Over Essential Civic Facilities

BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide assured Ramlila organisers that sanitation, drinking water, toilets, fogging and other essential civic facilities would be arranged at event venues across Mumbai.

Mumbai, October 14: Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha has initiated discussions with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to ensure essential civic facilities for Ramlila programmes across Mumbai.

A meeting was held on Wednesday with Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide after organisers raised concerns regarding inadequate facilities and operational difficulties at several Ramlila venues.

During the meeting, representatives of Ramlila organising committees presented their requirements, following which Ashwini Bhide assured them that necessary municipal assistance would be made available.

Ramlila programmes are traditionally organised at several grounds across Mumbai city and suburban areas between Navratri and Dussehra, attracting substantial gatherings of residents and devotees.

The large public turnout makes reliable arrangements for sanitation, drinking water, toilets, mosquito control and other basic civic services particularly important during these cultural programmes.

Ramlila organisers raise civic facility concerns

The meeting at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters brought together representatives of Ramlila organisations seeking coordinated support from civic authorities for their upcoming programmes.

Vinay Mishra, General Secretary of Sahitya Kalamanch, briefed officials about difficulties organisers reportedly face while conducting Ramlila events at different locations across the city.

Organisers specifically requested mobile toilets, drinking water arrangements, cleanliness measures and other essential civic infrastructure required for managing large gatherings during the festival period safely.

According to the organisers, timely civic coordination is necessary because several venues experience significant public attendance, increasing demand for sanitation services and basic amenities throughout performances.

Mangal Prabhat Lodha had previously held discussions concerning problems faced by Ramlila organisers and had instructed concerned authorities to facilitate essential services for their programmes.

At Wednesday’s meeting, organisers again presented their expectations and sought stronger municipal coordination to ensure that necessary facilities are available before and during scheduled Ramlila events.

Mangal Prabhat Lodha stresses cultural importance of Ramlila

Mangal Prabhat Lodha described Ramlila as an important cultural and religious tradition and said programmes organised across Mumbai attract participation from large numbers of citizens.

He said organisers therefore require appropriate administrative cooperation, while people attending such events should also have access to essential civic facilities at programme venues.

Lodha said Ashwini Bhide had understood the concerns raised by citizens and organisers and had assured cooperation from the municipal administration regarding necessary arrangements.

He expressed confidence that the assurance would provide relief to Ramlila committees and help them conduct events with better support from the civic authorities.

The discussion also reflected the broader challenge faced by authorities during large cultural gatherings, where sanitation, public health and crowd-related infrastructure require advance coordination among departments.

BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide assures sanitation, water and fogging

Responding positively to the demands, Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide assured organisers that steps would be initiated to provide cleanliness, drinking water and toilet facilities at venues.

The civic administration will also undertake necessary fogging measures for mosquito control, according to assurances conveyed during the meeting with Ramlila representatives and Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha.

These arrangements are expected to assist organisers in managing festival venues while improving convenience for citizens attending Ramlila performances across different parts of Mumbai.

For municipal authorities, coordinated implementation will remain important because the events are spread across multiple locations and require services tailored to local venue conditions.

Sprouts News understands that the focus of the meeting remained on practical civic requirements rather than changes to event permissions or other regulatory procedures.

The effectiveness of the initiative will ultimately depend upon timely implementation at individual Ramlila grounds, coordination between civic departments and communication with organisers before major programmes begin.

With Navratri and Dussehra gatherings drawing significant participation, organisers will now look toward the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for swift implementation of the facilities assured by Ashwini Bhide.
