Ulhasnagar fake CBI officer Raju Pattekar arrested by Vithalwadi Police over job scam allegations
Vithalwadi Police in Ulhasnagar have arrested Raju Pattekar, accused of allegedly posing as a Central Bureau of Investigation officer and promising jobs in exchange for money.
An Ulhasnagar fake CBI officer case has surfaced after Vithalwadi Police arrested Raju Pattekar, 37, for allegedly impersonating a senior Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer.
Police alleged that Pattekar projected himself as an IPS officer and promised employment opportunities in the CBI to multiple people, including several women.
According to investigators, victims were allegedly asked to pay amounts ranging between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 4 lakh for purported recruitment assistance.
Authorities said that after collecting money, the accused allegedly failed to provide jobs and did not return the funds to the complainants.
The case has drawn attention in Ulhasnagar and nearby areas, where police are now examining whether more people were targeted.
Sprouts News has relied on police statements and reported case details. The allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial scrutiny.
Police say victims paid money for fake CBI jobs
According to officials, the accused allegedly convinced victims that he had influence inside the Central Bureau of Investigation and could secure appointments.
Investigators said several complainants were reportedly women who believed the accused’s claims of official connections and recruitment access.
Police alleged that once payments were made, no appointments were issued, and communication with victims became inconsistent or evasive.
In one complaint, police said a woman approached the accused seeking the return of her money after no job materialised.
Investigators alleged that instead of refunding the amount, Pattekar made the woman perform domestic work at his residence.
Those tasks allegedly included cooking and taking care of children, yet no repayment was made, according to police accounts.
Police further alleged that when victims threatened to file complaints, the accused warned them he would not return the money if reported.
Senior Inspector Ashok Koli took cognisance
Officials said Senior Police Inspector Ashok Koli became aware of the alleged scam and initiated action through the formal registration of an offence.
Following the complaint process, Vithalwadi Police arrested Raju Pattekar and began searches linked to the suspected fraudulent operation.
During the investigation, police said they recovered six walkie-talkies, fake government seals, stamps and forged documents bearing the CBI name.
Authorities also claimed to have seized bogus appointment letters allegedly used to create the appearance of genuine recruitment procedures.
Police are now analysing the seized materials to determine whether the alleged operation involved additional collaborators or wider impersonation networks.
Investigators have not publicly disclosed whether any other suspects have been identified at this stage of the inquiry.

Photo with Rupali Chakankar mentioned in local discussion
The matter has also generated discussion after references surfaced claiming Raju Pattekar had a photograph with then Mahila Aayog Chairperson Rupali Chakankar.
There is no indication from police that such a photograph establishes wrongdoing, endorsement, or any connection to the alleged offences.
No allegation has been made against Rupali Chakankar in the criminal case, and her name appears only in relation to the claimed photograph reference.
As with many public figures, photographs with individuals do not by themselves imply association with alleged criminal acts.
Court remand and next steps
Police said Pattekar was produced before a court, which remanded him to four days of police custody for further investigation.
Authorities are now attempting to establish the total number of victims, the money involved, and whether forged credentials were used elsewhere.
If additional complainants emerge, investigators may widen the scope of charges based on documentary evidence and witness statements.
The case also highlights recurring risks involving fake recruitment promises, impersonation of government officers, and misuse of agency names.
Citizens are generally advised to verify all job offers through official recruitment portals and avoid cash payments for public sector appointments.
Until trial proceedings conclude, all allegations against Raju Pattekar remain accusations under investigation and subject to court determination.
