Mahindra has launched the Thar OG in India at an introductory price of Rs. 10.32 lakh ex-showroom, updating its three-door off-road SUV with revised styling, engines, suspension and technology. The refreshed model is offered in AXT, LXT and ZXT trims with manual and automatic transmission options. It features the M-GLYDE 4G platform, Pentalink rear suspension with Watt’s link, DaVinci dampers, electric power steering and an electronic rear locking differential. Three selectable terrain modes—Mud, Sand and Snow—also enhance its off-road equipment.

Mahindra has unveiled the Thar OG, a refreshed three-door SUV with revised styling, upgraded suspension, stronger engines, added safety equipment, and enhanced off-road tech.
The Mahindra Thar OG has launched in India at Rs. 10.32 lakh ex-showroom onward – the latest update to the three-door SUV.
Mahindra has kept the Thar’s three-door configuration but has updated the existing model with mechanical, exterior, interior, and technology changes.
The Thar OG gets revised turbo-petrol and diesel engines with higher output, suspension changes, electric power steering, and more off-road equipment.
The SUV comes in three trims, AXT, LXT and ZXT, while customers still have a choice of manual and automatic transmission.
Revised Exterior Design and New Colours
The Thar OG gets a new front grille with Thar badging flanked by new LED headlamps with C-shaped daytime running lights.
The SUV also gets ice-cube LED fog lamps with cornering functionality, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and a wider track than the previous model.
The wheel size has been increased to 19 inches, and the all-LED lighting package now spreads to the rear with the new LED tail-lamp clusters.
Integrated front parking sensors are also found on higher trim levels, adding to the exterior equipment available across the range of the refreshed three-door SUV.
The current colour palette includes Battleship Grey, Deep Forest, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Stealth Black and Tango Red, with Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue recently added.

Thar OG Adopts Technology From Thar Roxx
The Thar OG is built on Mahindra’s M-GLYDE 4G platform, which was introduced with the Thar Roxx, the five-door cousin of the three-door SUV.
Mahindra says the platform has a lighter high-strength steel frame with better stiffness and torsional rigidity. The rear axle features Pentalink suspension with Watt’s link.
The SUV also gets DaVinci dampers with frequency-dependent damping or FDD technology that was first seen on the XUV 7XO earlier this year.
For off-road use, the Thar OG gets an electronic locking differential on the rear axle and three selectable terrain modes covering Mud, Sand and Snow.
Mahindra has replaced the hydraulic electric power steering with electric power steering. The latter offers easier low-speed manoeuvring and parking.
Engine Output Increased Across Larger Powertrains
The Thar OG continues with three engine options, with the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engines getting a power boost.
The 1.5-litre D117 CRDe continues to churn out 117 BHP and 300 Nm in the manual guise, as before.
The D22 2.2-litre mHawk diesel now makes 150 BHP and 330 Nm as compared to 130 BHP and 300 Nm earlier.
The G20 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine produces 160 BHP and 330 Nm in manual guise, up from 150 BHP and 300 Nm.
As before, the transmission choices are a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed torque-converter automatic, in all applicable rear-wheel- or four-wheel-drive configurations.
Safety and Cabin Changes Add New Equipment
The Thar OG receives all-round disc brakes, an enhanced electronic stability programme suite and six airbags covering occupants across both rows.
The airbag arrangement comprises two front airbags and four HPTS airbags, covering head, pelvis, thorax and shoulder protection for occupants.
Inside, Mahindra introduces Truffle Brown leatherette upholstery and adds a second-row armrest equipped with cupholders for improved cabin convenience.
Mahindra also says it has worked on reducing noise, vibration and harshness compared with the outgoing model, although detailed measurements were not provided.
The combination of updated hardware, additional features and stronger powertrains expands the specification of Mahindra’s three-door Thar while retaining its established four-wheel-drive-oriented positioning.
Pricing and Market Position
The Mahindra Thar OG is priced from Rs. 10.32 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes in AXT, LXT, and ZXT trim hierarchy.
The launch is part of Mahindra’s broader expansion of Thar technology, with elements from the Thar Roxx and XUV 7XO integrated into the updated three-door model.
The Thar OG is a significant product update and continues with the basic three-door format of Mahindra’s Thar range.
