XPENG is expanding its presence in Malaysia with plans for 10 new 3S and 4S facilities nationwide by the end of 2026. The new locations are intended to strengthen sales, servicing, spare-parts availability and selected body-and-paint support for Malaysian customers. The move comes as the Chinese electric vehicle maker continues its international expansion across Southeast Asia and other markets. XPENG is also preparing for the global launch of its flagship G9L SUV at the Paris Motor Show, highlighting its broader push into international EV markets.

XPENG Malaysia Expansion and G9L Global Launch Signal New Phase of Global EV Growth

XPENG is ramping up its international expansion with new retail and service facilities across Malaysia, while gearing up for the global launch of its flagship G9L SUV at the Paris Motor Show.

XPENG’s expansion plans in Malaysia and the upcoming global launch of the G9L underscore the Chinese electric vehicle maker’s growing international ambitions amid intensifying competition in the global EV market.

The company recently announced a major expansion of its Malaysian retail and aftersales network with 10 new strategic 3S and 4S showroom locations to be rolled out nationwide by the end of 2026.

The expansion is part of XPENG Malaysia’s plan to improve its customer support infrastructure and create a complete smart electric vehicle ownership ecosystem for consumers across the country.

The announcement comes amid a trend among electric vehicle makers to improve service access, maintenance support and availability of spare parts in a bid to boost consumer confidence and ownership experience over the long term.

The new facilities will have full 3S operations – Sales, Service and Spare Parts – while selected facilities will be 4S – including Body and Paint Services, XPENG said.

The company aims to grow its aftersales presence by providing certified service infrastructure, specialised diagnostic equipment and dedicated parts inventory directly through local facilities across Malaysia.

Industry analysts have repeatedly pointed out that good aftersales support remains a key factor when buying a vehicle, especially in emerging markets for electric vehicles, where adoption is growing fast.

XPENG Strengthens Malaysian Presence Through Retail and Service Investments

The Malaysian expansion aligns with XPENG’s overall regional strategy, with Southeast Asia emerging as a key growth market for electric vehicles and advanced mobility technologies.

The new locations will further the company’s long-term commitment to Malaysian customers by offering better access to vehicle servicing and technical support over ownership cycles, it said.

XPENG also said the addition of certified aftersales infrastructure in each facility is to ensure customers receive timely maintenance and operational support from the start of ownership.

The development is part of the company's ongoing international expansion efforts, such as its recent entry into the Philippines with several electric vehicle variants targeting local consumers.

With global automakers vying for market share across Asia-Pacific regions, investment in dealer networks and service centres has become more important than ever to maintain long-term customer relationships.

Consumers often consider the proximity of service facilities as a factor in their purchase decision, along with vehicle performance, technology features, pricing, and charging accessibility.

G9L Set for Paris Motor Show Debut as Global Rollout Approaches

XPENG is also working on expanding in Malaysia and launching the new flagship SUV G9L, which is described as a next-generation artificial intelligence-powered vehicle.

The G9L was launched in China earlier this month and will make its global debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 12.

The G9L is a Next-Gen AI Flagship SUV, offered in two versions, Battery Electric Vehicle and Range-Extended Electric Vehicle, to meet different market needs, XPENG said.

The SUV measures 5,120 millimetres in length, with a wheelbase of 3,100 millimetres that the company says maximizes interior space and agility behind the wheel.

The vehicle has XPENG’s VLA 2.0 model, which the company says enables faster cross-region adaptation and supports advanced smart-driving and intelligent cockpit capabilities.

XPENG also said the G9L is powered by the same Turing AI chip as the company’s humanoid robot project called IRON.

The model has been designed to meet the design standards of the four leading five-star vehicle safety assessment systems, Euro NCAP, ANCAP, C-NCAP and CIASI, the manufacturer said.

The G9L has passed 192 crash tests covering more than 110 testing scenarios and has undergone road tests in 26 countries and regions, XPENG said.

Cumulative testing distance reached more than 6.74 million kilometres, the company said, with evaluations in a range of environmental and driving conditions around the world.

The expansion of service infrastructure and the introduction of new flagship products indicate XPENG’s approach to improving customer support and technological innovation, according to Sprouts News.

As the Paris Motor Show launch approaches, industry observers will be following the market’s reception of the G9L closely and how it might affect XPENG’s growing global footprint.
