US President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that a Russia-Ukraine peace agreement could emerge soon and potentially involve all of Europe. Speaking after meeting Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev at the White House, Trump described the proposed settlement as significant but offered few details. First Lady Melania Trump separately hosted Russian and Ukrainian representatives following a temporary humanitarian ceasefire in Oleshky. While Washington continues diplomatic efforts, no comprehensive peace agreement has been announced, and questions remain over Ukraine's and Europe's participation.

Trump Says Russia-Ukraine Peace Agreement Could Involve Entire Europe

US President Donald Trump said he was optimistic about a possible settlement between Moscow and Kyiv and that talks could spread across Europe.

President Donald Trump said a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine could be achieved soon and might include the entire European region, not just Moscow and Kyiv. Trump told reporters at the White House that the proposed settlement was a “big deal” and said he was confident diplomacy was progressing toward ending the conflict.

Melania Trump and Diplomatic Efforts

President Trump said First Lady Melania Trump of the United States is doing humanitarian work in the hope of stimulating Russia-Ukraine dialogue and that her engagement in the region would be able to facilitate diplomatic efforts. Trump also said he met at the White House with Russia's finalised president's envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, but declined to provide details of their conversation.

Trump said the deal "will have far-reaching ramifications for Europe's security," but did not elaborate as to which countries might be included in it or in what framework. Separately, Trump also noted the death toll of the current Russia-Ukraine war, claiming that Russia and Ukraine were "losing" 25,000 people each month.

He said the monthly death toll was a cry to end the fighting and resolve the conflict diplomatically. But the president did not provide any evidence for the casualty figure in his address, and it was not verified in the report he delivered.

Lord's statements show some willingness to negotiate, but "significant differences" remain over issues of negotiations, territorial claims, security guarantees, and the positions of both Moscow and Kyiv.

There was no mention of a formal peace deal or agreed-upon framework for negotiations in the comments. It remains to be seen whether the proposed settlement would receive any genuine international support, which itself would be a matter for further diplomatic manoeuvring.

"So a much bolder European deal would require fine diplomatic tailoring to specific parties, etc.," Sprouts News said.
