Ola S1Z Electric Scooter Launched With Bharat Cell LFP Technology, Prices Start at Rs 79,999

Ola Electric launches new S1Z electric scooter in India with 3.1 kWh & 5.1 kWh battery. The model is equipped with home-grown Bharat Cell LFP technology and offers a range of up to 301 km.

Ola Electric has introduced the Ola S1Z electric scooter in India as part of its mass-market electric mobility portfolio expansion. It comes with two battery setups and is the company’s new entry-level model.

The new Ola S1Z is available in 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh battery packs with introductory ex-showroom prices of Rs 79,999 and Rs 99,999, respectively. The 3.1 kWh variant deliveries are scheduled to commence in December 2026.

Ola Electric has confirmed that the larger 5.1 kWh variant will go on sale from March 2027. It will take on competitors like Hero Vida VX2 and TVS Orbiter in the growing electric two-wheeler market of India.

The S1Z is powered by the company’s in-house Bharat Cell LFP technology. The battery platform has been developed at Ola Electric’s Battery Innovation Center and produced at the company’s Gigafactory, the company said.

Bharat Cell LFP Technology Powers Ola S1Z Range

The S1Z is powered by Ola Electric’s home-grown 46-series LFP cell platform, one of the first large-scale deployments of the company’s in-house battery technology in a consumer scooter.

The maker claims the 3.1 kWh model offers an IDC-certified range of up to 179 km, while the 5.1 kWh model offers an IDC range of up to 301 km.

Ola Electric said that battery costs have dropped significantly due to in-house battery development and manufacturing. Batteries remain the single biggest cost item in most electric vehicles, so cost optimization is strategically important.

Both variants run on 12-inch wheels. Ola Electric said the S1Z name stands for “Zyada,” with a focus on delivering greater safety, range, technology, and overall value to customers.

Customers will be offered four color options – White, Anthracite, Sky Splash Blue and Matcha Green. The color palette has been chosen to appeal to a broad market of urban and suburban buyers.

MoveOS 5 powers the Ola S1Z, and it packs several connected and convenience features. These range from cruise control, advanced regenerative braking, reverse gear, GPS navigation capability, and over-the-air software updates.

Connected Features and Dealership Expansion Plans

The scooter also comes with the Ola Electric app that is available on iOS and Android platforms. Riders can see ride stats, energy insights, and geo-time, and mode-fencing capabilities.

Another highlight is the Easy Park function, which allows riders to maneuver in and out of tight parking spaces by a simple movement mechanism via the throttle, with assistance from the movement of the vehicle.

The S1Z will also be the first Ola Electric model to be sold through dealer-operated outlets, apart from the company's existing network of company-owned stores. This strategy marks a significant change in the way the company does business in the retail space.

Ola Electric has announced plans to build a full-fledged dealership footprint across the country by Diwali 2026. Industry analysts say the move is intended to increase the company’s customer reach and access to service.

Speaking about the launch, Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Ola Electric said, We see the S1Z as a key step toward bringing indigenous battery innovation to mainstream consumers.

The S1Z is targeted at taking made-in-India LFP technology to a broader set of customers and exemplifies the company’s belief that affordability should not come at the expense of features or performance, said Bhavish Aggarwal.

With the growth of the electric vehicle market in India, products like the Ola S1Z could play a key role in driving EV adoption. The launch also underlines the growing localization push in the battery and mobility ecosystem in India, according to Sprouts News.
